Heat Advisory Issued for First Full Week of Summer: Temps Soar, Rain Chances Ahead

Summer is kicking off with a sizzle! A heat advisory is in effect for the first full week of the season, with high temperatures climbing into the low 90s. But it’s not just the thermometer that’s rising—the heat index values could reach a scorching 99 to 102 degrees, making it feel even hotter.

Staying safe in the heat is crucial. Be sure to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak hours, and take plenty of breaks in the shade or air conditioning. Don’t forget to check on vulnerable neighbors, kids, and pets.

While most days will be hot and mostly dry, hit-and-miss afternoon downpours are possible. These pop-up storms won’t be widespread but could bring brief relief to those lucky enough to see one.

Looking ahead, rain chances increase midweek, with more widespread showers and possible thunderstorms expected by Wednesday or Thursday. It’s a good idea to keep the umbrella nearby and stay weather-aware as the pattern shifts.
