Bengals Sign International Prospect Dante Barnett
Bengals Sign British DT Dante Barnett via NFL’s International Player Pathway Program

The Cincinnati Bengals have taken a promising step into international talent development by signing defensive tackle Dante Barnett from Birmingham, England, through the NFL’s International Player Pathway (IPP) program. The move highlights the growing global reach of American football and the Bengals’ interest in scouting unconventional routes for potential contributors.
Barnett, one of 13 athletes selected for this year’s IPP program, turned heads with an impressive 4.69-second 40-yard dash at the University of South Florida’s Pro Day — an exceptional time for a player at his position. That performance, along with his background in American football, earned him a shot to compete for a place on the Bengals’ roster.
Under the structure of the IPP program, Barnett will not count against the team’s official roster unless he earns a spot. However, he is eligible to remain with the team as a designated 17th member of the practice squad, a special provision for IPP players.
This opportunity gives Barnett the platform to develop under professional coaching and possibly transition into a full-time NFL contributor. For the Bengals, it’s a low-risk, high-upside move that reflects a continued commitment to player development and international scouting.
Keep an eye on Barnett during training camp — he could be one of the surprise stories of the season.
