Eggs: Supporting Family Farms in America
Ohio Officials Have Optimistic Outlook On Egg Prices

USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins and Governor Mike DeWine Visit Weaver Eggs to Highlight Support for Family Farms and Avian Flu Response
Versailles, OH – April 2025 – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins joined Ohio Governor Mike DeWine at Weaver Eggs in Darke County this week to reaffirm the Biden Administration’s commitment to supporting American family farms and addressing the spread of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). Their visit underscored a coordinated federal and state response to ongoing challenges in the agriculture sector, especially among poultry producers.
During the visit, Secretary Rollins outlined the USDA’s new Five-Point Plan to combat avian flu outbreaks, stabilize egg prices, and protect the food supply chain. The plan has already drawn strong praise from agriculture and government leaders for its proactive and science-based approach.
“Family farms like Weaver Eggs are the backbone of rural America,” Secretary Rollins said. “This plan strengthens biosecurity, supports disease monitoring, and ensures that small and mid-sized producers have the tools they need to weather animal health crises.”
As part of this initiative, Ohio received $1.4 million in USDA grant funding to bolster disease detection and response
