Tyler Perry Launches Dream Collective Program
Tyler Perry Studios Launches the Dream Collective Program to Empower Emerging Filmmakers

Tyler Perry Studios is taking a bold step towards supporting underrepresented voices in the film industry with the launch of the Dream Collective program. This new initiative is designed to provide emerging filmmakers with the resources, training, and industry access they need to bring their unique stories to the screen and establish long-term careers in cinema and television.
The Dream Collective program aims to empower filmmakers from underrecognized and underrepresented backgrounds by offering them opportunities for hands-on training, tailored guidance, and mentorship from industry experts. This initiative is designed to nurture talent and create pathways for individuals who may otherwise struggle to break into the industry.
Dawn Hudson, former CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will lead the Dream Collective. Hudson is committed to championing diversity in film, a mission that aligns with her belief that a broader range of voices must be represented in cinema and television. Under her leadership, the program will focus on ensuring that these diverse voices are given the tools and support necessary to thrive in the competitive world of filmmaking.
Nekisa Cooper, who will oversee the program’s design and production, emphasized the program’s commitment to holistic growth. “The focus will be on knowledge, skill, habit, and brand building to amplify diverse voices in the industry,” Cooper said. The program will guide participants through every aspect of filmmaking, from concept development to the technicalities of production, ensuring that they are well-equipped to navigate their careers.

The application process for the Dream Collective includes several stages, starting with a call for submissions. Finalists will participate in virtual sessions, followed by Short Film script submissions, hands-on training workshops, and mentorship. At the end of the program, five Grand Prize Winners will be selected, each receiving $30,000 to create their own Short Films in the greater Atlanta area.
The Dream Collective represents a significant opportunity for aspiring filmmakers, offering them not just financial support, but also the critical knowledge and industry connections they need to make their mark. With its focus on diversity, inclusivity, and creative empowerment, the program is poised to inspire the next generation of filmmakers and bring fresh, vital perspectives to the screen.
